:First of all, thanks for the great links and info. I too am very taken by the beauty of the Birth of Venus. In my high school english class, we did a section on the art and artists of the Renaissance. The sad thing is, I just learned what I had to to get a good grade on my tests without actually appreciating the art. After doing the Fiero readings and watching the films in class I really appreciate and am awestruck by the art. Before, even though I knew that these were supposed to be excellent and beautiful pieces, I never saw what was so great about them (I know, how stupid!). I finally really took a good look at the pictures and have become fascinated by them. The statue of David is my personal favorite. It really amazes me how perfectly like a man the statue is and that someone could actually make a piece of rock into something so beautiful. Enough of my ramblings!
