Instrumentation Order
The following examples will help you understand score
order. Score
instrumentation is grouped by choirs (families) of instruments. From top to bottom they are as followes:
- Woodwinds
- Brasses
- Percussion
- Other Instruments
- Strings
Page 2 of your text gives the score order of some of the more
common ensembles. It is
fundamental that you be able to arrange any combination of instruments into a
logical score order. The examples
below demonstrate how different instrumental combinations are scored. Look at the following scores and note the instrumentation
