SPRING 2011 Syllabus

2D Digital Studio ll >> Art 3017
In this studio art class, experienced students will develop their own way of working as a digital artist. Students are encouraged to integrate their traditional studio art practice with digital processes, mixing media, and taking clues from a rich tradition of experimental techniques. Students will research current trends in digital art and do presentations on their individual digital art focus. In the second half of the semester, students produce a series of original digital artwork, providing their own approach and focus. This course establishes a collaborative learning environment, wherein all participants will take turns sharing their expertise and discoveries in a laboratory of emerging technologies.

•Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of strategic ideation and conceptual development of a series of work in digital art media.

Evaluation:
Students in Digital Studio ll are evaluated on attendance and engaged participation in all in class activities, assignments, blog writing, digital art presentations, group critiques, and contribution to the digital studio collaborative learning environment. This studio course requires that each student invest energy in developing a unique series of digital artwork which will represent half the final grade in the course.

10% Project 1 > Wintery Remix
10% Project 2 > CopyWRONG

10% Project 3 > Digital Collaborative

10% Critical Reflection (critiques, blog)
10% Research Focus (presentation, blog)
50% Digital Focus Series of Work

Attendance Policy:
Attendance is required. Students may not skip weekly critques or presentations without expecting a reduction in their final grade.
