WorldQuest 2014 WorldQuest

The Alworth Institute's Sixth WorldQuest International Trivia Competition will be held on Thursday, February 27th, 2014. in the Kirby Student Center Ballroom at UMD. This is an educational evening that is mostly FUN! The 2014 featured country is Mexico!

WorldQuest is a quiz game that is played in teams of eight. The teams compete against one another on subjects with an international flavor: flags and capitals; geographical features and international borders; people and events in the news. The game is played over the course of the evening that includes dinner, snacks, and a slew of door prizes. First, second and third place teams, as well as the teams with the Best Team Spirit and Best Costumes are awarded special prizes.

  • The Best Team Costumes for WorldQuest 2013 went to the UMD "University Honors" team. This is the first year this team of honors students has competed. They won for their innovative t-shirt slogan - "We know Canada from Eh to Zed."

  • The Best Team Spirit Award for WorldQuest 2013 was once again awarded to, "The Snow Leopards" - A groups of UMD students from Pakistan.
  • The First Place Winners of WorldQuest 2013 The UMD College of Liberal Arts Team, "The Maple Sugahs" - Featuring UMD College of Liberal Arts Dean, Sue Maher.
  • The Second Place Winners of WorldQuest 2013 A group from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth - "The UUs, Eh?"
  • The Third Place Winners of WorldQuest 2013 The UMD University for Seniors team, "Grays Under Pressure."
  • A Special Award for Best Canadian Costumes for WorldQuest 2013 went to the UMD International Education Office team, "Globetrotters." They even brought their own Mountie!
