The Martha B. Alworth International Brown Bag Series

Martha B. Alworth, with the University of Minnesota Duluth, established the Alworth Institute to honor her husband, Royal D. Alworth, Jr. However, it was Martha Alworth’s passion for travel, learning, and social justice that sustained the Brown Bag Series. She visited many places around the world and was often able to add some insights from her own travels to those of the speakers’. Her intellectual curiosity and dedication to international education was evident in her participation. She rarely missed a presentation; she always sat up front, keen to ask questions. Martha Alworth attended her last brown bag on November 15, 2012, a presentation on Scottish nationalism. Sadly, she passed away November 25, 2012.

To honor Martha Alworth for her commitment to and enjoyment of this series, it will henceforth be called the Martha B. Alworth International Brown Bag Series. In this way, she remains a part of the program, even if her chair in the front row is empty.

Information on Dates and Times of the presentations can be found here.
