(Summary Page)
-
- You will need to post meaningful messages on the class on-line chat board located at CPforum
<www.d.umn.edu/~troufs/CPforum/>
- About two weeks before the midterm and final exams you will be asked to make up a question and post it on the CPforum
- These exam question postings will serve, in part, as study questions for the exams
- These exam question postings must be completed at least four days before the exam date
- but feel free to use the forum for messages in general
- for example, in addition to the ten or more "official" topics you might find it useful to use the forum when preparing for the midterm and final exams
- At the end of the semester you will also be asked to evaluate the course on the CPforum, indicating the three things you liked best and the three things you liked least about the course
- end-of-the-semester postings must be completed by the
scheduled final exam time
- Other timely topics may be added during the semester as appropriate
- 30 points (2% of final grade) + 10 points for each special topic posting
- Regular class attendance is expected
- Repeated unaccounted-for absence may result in a lowering of your final grade
- Week 01 Day 01...

Assignments
- All readings are from the textbook: Human Behavior in Global Perspective: An Introduction to Cross-Culutural Psychology, Second Edition, by Marshall H. Segall, Pierre R. Dasen, John W. Berry, and Ype H. Portinga (Boston: Allyn and Bacon, 1999)
You should usually read the assignments prior to consideration of their related topics in class
if you have read the texts prior to presentation of the materials in class, you will more easily keep track of what is going on
If you have any difficulty with either the terms or with any of the various topics, stop by my office (215 Cina Hall) and I'll go over the materials with you
- however, please do not wait day before the quiz or exam
- Read "Preface," pp. ix-xi
- Read Ch. 1, "The Sociocultural Nature of Human Beings," pp. 1-12
