Finding An Internship

An internship or cooperative education position gives you valuable hands-on experience in the field you have chosen. This kind of work experience can help you confirm your career choice and is an asset when you are seeking employment after graduation. A career-related internship, summer job, or part-time job can also help you decide on a career path if you have not yet made a choice.

Postings of internship opportunities are available through Career Services, 21 Campus Center, 218-726-7985.

You can consult Peterson's Guide to Internships 2001, a directory of internships nationwide, in the CSE student Resource Center in 102 Engineering.

UMD departments also have information on internship and coop opportunities. Check with the department or check department bulletin boards. The following departments maintain a list of internship positions on their Web sites:

Professional organizations may also post internship opportunities for students. Go to the Exploring Careers portion of this web site for links to professional organizations.

Some students also find their own internships, particularly in smaller companies.
