The UMD Swenson Science Building kiosk’s purpose is twofold: promotional and informational. It includes current events in SSB and also a directional map of the faculty and grad students’ offices in the building. The interface is high-tech, yet welcoming, in keeping with the mission of the University. The user-friendly backend interface allows the chemistry and biology departments to update the information and events themselves, as they choose.

Integration of this cutting-edge technology to meet the growing needs of the dynamic university environment is a focal point of the kiosk design.

The design process blends the expertise of regular ITSS/Viz Lab staff with opportunities for graduate and undergraduate student employees.
