Thursday, March 5, Womens' History Month Keynote Speaker, 7pm, Montague 70, UMD

Title: Environmental Justice and New Feminist Agrarians

Our speaker is Jacquelyn Zita, Professor of Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies at U of M Twin Cities and co-founder of the Women's Environmental Institute. Jacqui will speak about their work at the Intsitute to create and share knowledge about environmental issues and policies relevant to women, children and identified communities especially affected by environmental injustices; to promote agricultural justice, organic and sustainable agriculture and ecological awareness; and to support activism that influences public policy and promotes social change. All are invited to a reception prior to the talk at 6 pm outside Montague 70.

Monday, March 9, 7pm, Drawing the Line: Sexual Harassment on College Campuses

7 pm, Library Rotunda, UMD. Presentation and Discussion of this report by American Association of University Women member and faculty emeritus Dr. Jane Maddy. Nearly two-thirds of college students experience sexual harassment at some point during college, including nearly one-third of first year students, according to this report. This report contributes to our understanding of how college students perceive experience and respond to sexual harassment and how to create a harassment-free campus.
