I have worked within the CLA Advising office since 1994. Throughout my time with CLA, I have had many opportunities to be involved and learn a variety of policies, procedures, and systems. My role has evolved from an advisor to the Assistant to the Dean. I continue to advise probationary students, but have become involved in assisting CLA faculty develop new courses and programs, and help coordinate how new courses and programs are designed and managed across the curriculum. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UMD with criminology and sociology majors. Later, I completed the Master of Education at UMD.

I have been an Academic Advisor in the College of Liberal Arts since 2008. I work with new undeclared freshman and new declared freshman in Criminology, Sociology, Anthropology, Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies, and students returning to the college to complete their degrees. Working with students as they declare or confirm their major is an important and exciting part of my job. Previously, I taught study skills and time-management classes, and enjoy helping students improve their college success strategies. Throughout my undergraduate experience, work as an admissions counselor, and completion of my master’s degree, my commitment to higher education and working with undergraduate students has grown. My position in the College of Liberal Arts as an academic advisor is my dream job. Students are my priority, and are welcome to stop by to see me anytime.
