3. graphics are well chosen, prepared and placed to work suggestively with verbal text
4. verbal text selected and used appropriately for the medium, audience and with the site's graphics--has a sense of voice
5. screen "real estate" spent wisely, no unnecessary scrolling required.
6. verbal and visual elements work together to create a distinct tone appropriate to the audience and purpose
7. use of design, content to unify multiple pages
8. all elements of the site are functional (even links that go to ficticious pages)
9. commentary informed by readings, thoughtful use of terms
10. navigation, labels, and menu design are clear, readily visible, and elegant.
11. design achieved mostly with content, rather than non-content structural elements or "chrome"
