Sicilian ice-cream in a bread bun. A good solution to a local problem: the Mediterranean heat quickly melts the ice-cream, which is absorbed by the bread.

What Can We Learn from the Peanut Recall?

Image.

CBSNews 13 February 200

"Peanut recall: Widely Known, poorly understood," reads the DuluthNewsTribune page-wide feature on Monday 16 February 2009.
(The rest of the nation heard the news of the Harvard study three days earlier, on Friday the 13thsup>)

The AP article notes that so far 1,900 peanut-based products have been recalled, noting that "Federal health officials are tracking a salmonella outbreak that has caused at least 636 illnesses in 44 states and has been linked to 9 deaths."
[By comparison 50 people were killed in the New York Continental plane crash on 14 February.]

Read the article on the Harvard study. It is currently available on-line at the DuluthNewsTribune website
