    • A NOTE to "Works" Users: DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR PAPER AS A .wps DOCUMENT

      • if you normally generate a .wps file (from the Microsoft Works wordprocessor) please turn in your paper as a .rtf (Rich Text Format) document.

DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR PAPER AS A .wps DOCUMENT.

      • NOTE: It does not work simply to type in the .rtf extension on an existing .wps file. You must load the original document and then resave it as a .rtf file type.

        To do that . . .

        1. Load your original paper

        2. Re-save your paper -- go to "File"

        3. Then click on "Save As"

        4. Then (usually as the bottom) it will say "Save as Type"

        1. Click on that (on the \/ button to the right of where it says "Save as Type:"), then scroll up/down with the little "elevator" button on the righthand side and select "Rich Text Format" or ".rtf"

        2. Type in file name, with whatever name you want to call it
          • use a name like "jdoe0013_case_study"

        3. Then save it

        4. Send that saved .rtf copy
        5.
    • Virtually anyone should be able to open and read a RTF file.

If you need help doing that please e-mail troufs@d.umn.edu
